Yuki Sagi Teaser
Yaki Sugi pen teaser. Still under development, but looking promising. I created this pen on a whim. I was curious about what a yaki sugi (A.K.A. Shou Sugi Ban) pen would look like. Historically, Yaki Sugi is used on Japanese Cedar, which is unobtainable in the US. So I choose highly figured Pacific Yew instead.
The trim ring is a challenge. I can’t add the trim ring until after the pen has been torched and sanded. Fitting the trim ring without a visible seam or gap is more difficult that I imagined but I have some ideas.
The pictured pen has a very pale blue trim ring, it’s a cut off I had laying around. The final design will use a deep red/crimson trim ring.
I’m undecided about the hardware.
Updates
It’s been a while since I’ve posted an update. There have been big changes. I’ve reimagined my pen designs to focus on the one piece twist mecahanism S113 pen model (pictured above in cherry). I am discontinuing the S2xx models for now.
Beginning in May, I will be selling pens at the Ligonier Country Market in Ligonier, PA. Stop by the Yinzer Pens booth and see the pens in person.
